Andropause is a commonly used term for age-related changes in men that may be associated with declining testosterone levels. It’s sometimes informally called “male menopause,” but the two conditions aren’t the same – female menopause involves a significant hormone shift over a relatively defined period, while testosterone decline in men is usually much more gradual.
Because these changes develop over years, symptoms are easy to attribute to stress, work, or normal aging. You may notice more fatigue, slower recovery after exercise, reduced interest in sex, fat gain around the waist, or changes in mood, focus, motivation, or sleep.
Not every man experiences significant age-related testosterone decline, and not every symptom is caused by low testosterone – sleep disorders, thyroid conditions, medication side effects, depression, and other health concerns can create similar symptoms.
When a consistent group of symptoms accompanies medically confirmed low testosterone, treatment may be considered and can include Testosterone Replacement Therapy, nutrition guidance, weight management, exercise recommendations, sleep improvements, and other care based on your needs.
